Assessments

Before you can align a team, close a gap, or navigate a transition, you need a clear picture of where things actually stand. ELK uses a suite of research-backed assessment tools to surface what's working, what's getting in the way, and what needs to shift. Whether you're evaluating culture, developing a leader, or building self-awareness across a team, our assessments give you the insight to act with precision.

Culture and leadership are the invisible levers of performance. This assessment helps pinpoint the leadership, management, and cultural factors that are either driving results or putting them at risk. It combines quantitative data, direct interviews, and on-site observation to give you an honest, grounded picture of what's happening inside your organization.

Leadership effectiveness is often most visible to the people around a leader, not just the leader themselves. The KF360 powered by Korn Ferry Leadership Architect gives participants a comprehensive, research-backed view of how they show up, including their strengths, blind spots, overused behaviors, and the competencies most critical to their role. Each participant is debriefed by a certified expert coach who helps them move from data to insight to action.

360 Assessments

  • High-potential succession candidates looking to accelerate their readiness

  • High performers who want to maximize their impact

  • Leaders who are approximately six months into a new role and ready to assess their integration

Myers-Briggs Company Assessments

ELK partners with The Myers-Briggs Company to offer a suite of validated, widely trusted assessments that support individual development, team effectiveness, and organizational health. With over 60 years of assessment development experience and tools used by 83 of the Fortune 100 in the last three years, these instruments bring both rigor and practical relevance to the work.

We offer three core assessments from this suite, each designed to address a specific dimension of performance:

The world's most widely used personality assessment, the MBTI helps individuals understand how they naturally think, communicate, and make decisions. Grounded in Carl Jung's theory of psychological type, it identifies one of 16 personality types, giving teams a shared language for understanding each other and working more effectively together.

Best used for:

  • Employee development

  • Team building

  • Leadership training

  • Conflict management

MBTI (Myers-Briggs Type Indicator)

A chart comparing traits on a spectrum from extroversion to introversion, sensing to intuition, thinking to feeling, and judging to perceiving, highlighting energy, info, decisions, and approach.

TKI (Thomas-Kilmann Conflict Mode Instrument)

Unresolved conflict is one of the most underestimated drains on team performance. The TKI identifies how individuals tend to respond when their needs or goals are in tension with others, and helps teams develop healthier, more productive ways of navigating disagreement.

Best used for:

  • Reducing team tension

  • Improving negotiation outcomes

  • Enhancing a leader's coaching and facilitation skills

A 2D grid chart with five sections illustrating conflict-handling styles. The vertical axis represents assertiveness, and the horizontal axis represents cooperativeness. The sections are labeled: 'Competing' with two figures, one pointed at and assertive; 'Collaborating' with five figures, working together; 'Compromising' with two figures exchanging items; 'Avoiding' with a figure walking away with a bag; and 'Accommodating' with a figure offering a globe. The style of the sections varies with colored borders: gold for competing, red for collaborating, pink for compromising, purple for avoiding, and blue for accommodating.

Interpersonal dynamics shape whether teams trust each other, communicate openly, and perform under pressure. The FIRO-B identifies an individual's needs for inclusion, control, and affection in work relationships, as well as their willingness to adapt to others. It's a practical tool for improving communication and building stronger working relationships.

Best used for:

  • Improving an individual's ability to connect with others

  • Strengthening communication within teams

FIRO-B (Fundamental Interpersonal Relations Orientation)

A table comparing expressed behaviors versus wanted behaviors across three variables: inclusion, control, and affection, with color-coded columns.

Assessment Selection Guide

Not sure which assessment is the right fit? The table below maps each tool to the outcomes it supports. Many of our engagements use more than one assessment in combination to build a fuller picture.

A checklist or form with a list of 12 items, handwritten in blue ink, on lined paper with a black border.

Every engagement starts with understanding your need and objectives. If you're not sure which assessment fits your situation, we're happy to talk it through.
